Dabei klingt der Ansatz relativ banal: Die physikalisch bedingten Verluste müssen minimiert werden, um das ursprüngliche Musiksignal möglichst unverändert und neutral zu übertragen. Und mit der AIR-Technologie kommt man einer verlustfreien Übertragung so nahe wie nie zuvor. Sie führt zu einer deutlich besseren Tonwiedergabe, die nicht nur subjektiv hörbar, sondern auch objektiv messbar ist. Die Isolation bzw. das Dielektrikum der AIR-Kabel ist dank der Luftisolation nahezu perfekt und beeinflusst den Klang kaum noch. Aufbau, Dimension und Anordnung der Leiter sind optimiert und reizen das physikalisch Machbare voll aus. Um auf dieser Basis audiophiler Perfektion erneut ein klangliches Highlight zu setzen, rückten wir nun das Leitermaterial der Kabel in den Fokus. Kupfer in der entsprechenden Reinheit ist bereits ein sehr guter Leiter. Perfekt wäre ein Supraleiter, der dem Strom keinen ohmschen Widerstand entgegensetzt. Die supraleitenden Eigenschaften des Materials setzen jedoch tiefe Temperaturen von mindestens minus siebzig Grad voraus. Das derzeit am besten leitende Material unter realistischen Bedingungen ist Silber. Es weist mit 61,35 S/m (Siemens pro Meter) eine rund sechs Prozent bessere Leitfähigkeit als Kupfer auf. The unique AIR technology impressively demonstrates what high-end cables can achieve in terms of sound. We have now added another top-class speaker cable to our Reference Selection series. For entry into this class, the sophisticated Air technology is now available for the first time in a flat “ribbon” construction. The Air-Ribbon technology has made it possible to achieve an exquisite sound particularly efficiently by adapting the cable architecture. In the new reference LS-804 AIR speaker cable, four cores run flat and not helically next to each other as in the LS-1204, 2404 and 4004 AIR air-helix cables. In this model, the wires are also held in position by specially developed clips and cross-connected at both ends of the speaker cable. In this way, the electrical parameters of capacitance and inductance are finely tuned to each other. The division into several smaller, separate conductors also reduces the skin effect. In conjunction with the Air technology, i.e. the “omission” of insulation material, which would “soak up” part of the energy like a sponge, the reference LS-804 AIR is already able to follow very fast pulses. The sophisticated details of the Air technology counteract unwanted electrical effects and make it an exceptional loudspeaker cable. The LS-804 AIR makes work easier, especially for less mono amplifiers, and ensures “relaxed” music enjoyment. Like all loudspeaker and audio cables in the Referenz series, the Referenz LS-804 AIR is manufactured entirely in Germany.
