Music is always very dynamic and generates a very impulsive current consumption on integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers or active loudspeakers during playback. These rapidly changing current increases and decreases result in extreme current peaks, which generate strong magnetic fields and interference emissions and lead to power losses at line and transition resistors. However, such current peaks must also be fed to the components without delays and without loss, as any inhibited current flow, regardless of where it occurs within the hi-fi / high-end chain, has a negative impact on the sound. As is known from physics, electrical conductors not only have resistance but also capacitive and inductive properties that disrupt the flow of energy from the socket to the hi-fi device. This means that the supply line from the wall socket and from the power strip or power station to the hi-fi / high-end system plays a very important role. For these reasons, we have developed the AC-1204 AIR MKII. It is based on the legendary Air technology, which we have already used in the LS-4004 AIR or LS-2404-AIR speaker cables, for example, and which has caused a sensation in the high-end scene worldwide. The specially developed clips keep the individual conductors at fixed distances and insulate them from each other using air. The “air dielectric” ensures low capacitance between the conductors. The multicore structure compensates for the interference and magnetic fields caused by the current peaks. As a result, the line inductance is extremely minimized. In addition, the skin effect is greatly reduced by the large number of individual conductors. This is caused by the steep current edges associated with high frequencies. By distributing the current over many cores, the actual usable conductor cross-section is increased in addition to the general increase in the overall cross-section. Thanks to these technical refinements, the AC-1204 AIR MKII mains connection cable is able to supply the components with energy with ease, even during extremely dynamic passages, so that their potential can fully unfold. As soon as electrical energy is transported, electromagnetic interference fields inevitably arise. To avoid this, the AIR cables are shielded with a dense braid of tinned copper. This protects the neighboring audio components and cables in particular from radiated interference fields caused by the high current peaks in the power cable. The many special features of the AIR mains connection cables therefore counteract all unwanted effects and make them what they are: outstanding energy pipelines for perfect audiophile sounds.

Gerade bei Audiokabel-Verbindungen zwischen den einzelnen Geräten spielt die Kabelkapazität eine entscheidende Rolle. Da die Signalquellen sehr schwach sind und empfindlich auf hohe Kabelkapazitäten reagieren, sind Audiokabel geradezu prädestiniert für eine Luft-Isolation durch die Air-Helix-Technologie. Für das Referenz NF-1204 Air haben wir darüber hinaus einen komplett neuen RCA-Stecker entwickelt, der vollständig lötfrei verarbeitet wird. Er besteht aus mehreren Teilen, welche erst im Laufe der Konfektion zusammengefügt werden. Wie beim Lautsprecherkabel wird zunächst die dünne Lackschicht von den hochreinen Kupferdrähten des „Cross Link Super Speed“-Hohlleiters maschinell entfernt, anschließend der aus Tellurium-Kupfer bestehende Kontakt-Pin des Steckers unter 1,5 Tonnen Druck mit dem Leiter verpresst. Auch die Kontaktierung der Abschirmung ist völlig neuartig: Sie wird jetzt hermetisch dicht verschraubt.

Because the largest current in the entire device chain flows in the speaker cable, a suitable conductor cross-section is required to transport the current with as little loss as possible. This current generates correspondingly strong magnetic fields and, as it is alternating current, there is a frequency-dependent resistance in the inductance of the cable. Speaker cables should therefore have a low inductance - and this is exactly what the LS-1204 Air does: A particularly ingenious arrangement of the conductors, the 4-fold “multicore” structure, reduces the inductance value of the cable so that it behaves completely sound-neutral over a wide frequency range. In addition, the magnetic fields generated around the individual conductors overlap and neutralize each other. This means that all frequencies are transported unhindered and without time delay, which enables a fabulously open and detailed musical performance.
